Does your home mountain have summer activities? Meaning more than hiking. If so, do they run a lift for sightseeing and/or biking?
It seems more and more ski resorts that weren't originally set up as 4-season resorts are adding summer fun these days. Hopefully that helps their bottom line so that lift ticket prices don't keep going up as much every year.
I think the only MCP destination that doesn't run lifts during the summer is Alta. Albion Grill is open for hikers. There are a few special events during the summer in Alta. Snowbird runs the tram and has added several ways for folks to pay to enjoy the mountain without hiking. I assume the target market are summer vacation travelers, not locals.
Ski Vermont started pushing summer fun in early May.
"As the 2015-16 ski and snowboard season comes to a close, Vermont resorts prepare for what was once considered the “off-season.” No longer “off” for the summer month, many resorts prepare for spring, summer and fall activities, camps, upgrades and more. Summer and year round activities have expanded greatly at ski and snowboard resorts in Vermont over the last decade and the growth only continues. New mountain bike trails, ziplines, music events and family-friendly activities are just some of the new things to be found in the Green Mountains this summer season."
