I am in the market for a set of skis and need some help from my peers. I'm a guy in my early 20's. 6'2", 240 lbs (and losing weight), athletic and strong build. I have recently learned to ski in the Northeast and want to invest in my own skiing equipment that will hold up and be versatile. However, I am a little lost when it comes to the lingo and how to determine the differentiating factors others than the basics and looking up reviews.
Since I have recently graduated college and have financial obligations, I was looking to snag a pretty good deal on some equipment during these summer sales... Which ultimately leads to some problems, such as not being able to demo any skis. I have only used local shops rental equipment and forget the exact models used, but lengths were around a 160-170 i believe.
I have skied up to a black diamond on groomers and intend to buy a single ski setup that can be used for anything or go anywhere as my skills progress and I begin to travel (I plan to head out west this year for a company ski trip). Residing in the east i see a lot more hard packed conditions; however, I dont have extensive knowledge on conditions (or terminology as previously mentioned)
With that being said, I have tried to narrow down a large search to catch these summer deals (on this past years/prior years models) and am considering the Bonafide, Brahma, Mantra, and Kendo. I would rather invest money in a setup that can last a while and be used for anything I want to do or try. In regard to bindings/boots, i havent begun my search and again dont know exactly what to look for to determine quality equipment.
Any help would be great! Thanks!
