easy way to print a thread?

Thread Starter

is there an easy to print the pertinent info in a thread easily? on more than one occasion I've printed threads to read or refer to at a later time.  unfortunately, with all the quotes, titles, etc the final product is way too long.

any suggestions?

I'd also like an easy way to read a thread without all of that stuff and it being too long. :D

There is no print thread function that I know of. The easiest suggestion would probably be to go in your profile and hide all the things that you can hide. IE no signatures, no avatars, etc. That will at least reduce the size by about 50%.

You can block users that you don't like so you don't see their posts if you were so inclined.

I'd think that manual effort would be involved, such as pasting a page into Word, then deleting stuff. But definitely suppressing avatars and signatures would help, as would using the Mobile view. There's also the ability in both views to set longer and shorter page lengths (10 posts vs thirty).

Can't imagine wanting to do this. And I'm pretty old.

I do not know how easy you would find this, but

If you want the entire thread,

  • In your epicski settings, set the posts per view to maximum number (I think it is 100 here) to minimize the number of pages
  • print page as a pdf file (use a numbering/naming system to keep thread in order)
  • Depending on the pdf program you own, you can merge the multiple files into a single pdf file

If you only want a few comments

  • It is probably easier to cut/pate into a word processing program, and then save your file

If you want to copy many comments you may want to use a combination of the above two methods.

I do not think there is an automated way to copy certain comments, although it would be nice if there was one.  Perhaps one could create a program to do this, although for some people the program might prove more effort than it is worth.

I hope you find this useful.
