OK Jasper, I know I got on your case recently and don’t wish to “admonish” more than necessary, but I have been patiently following this thread and, at this time, especially in light of how elegantly humble TKD is being, I wish to speak up. You seem, strongly to me at least, to be suggesting that this demo clip from TDK is representative of his full body of work as a Skier, Racer, Race Coach and Teacher. To most of us who are aware, it is obvious he is putting a lens on just one of his many skills. While I find it obvious that the demo is clearly representative of the ski coaching and instruction focus of this thread category, you may wish to rethink your assessment as to its purpose. I don’t know him but have seen plenty material online here and elsewhere that confirms to me that you are far off base in suggesting this is a skier who confuses either extension w/flexion or form w/function. He posted a video recently elsewhere doing very well “deep” in the bumps demonstrating the “real world” “extension” you harp on about. On the opposite end of the turn/terrain spectrum, he has certain and recent admirable accomplishments as a racer. (Double Silver @ Masters Nationals in GS and Super G @ Levi, Finland). Personally, I appreciate guys like Rick and TDK and quite a paltry list of other professionals who are at the top of their coaching and teaching game yet give a lot of it away for free online for ski bums like me to absorb cost free. There are many other very good ski pros (perhaps you?) who may wish to do the same had they the confidence and nerve to do so. There are also many others who may comment yet having not gone nearly far enough to understand many of the limiting parameters and the hard work it takes in the relentless skiing, hiking, hauling, shooting & editing for these types of clips.
