Vuarnet's

What are the odds that my late 80's Vuarnet "unbreakable" frames are not brittle and are still good to wear?

I've got one pair of Vuarnet lenses on their THIRD frames.  You can buy replacement frames for about $20 delivered if/when they break.

Still my main go to gear for dry days above zero.

Seriously? Real Vuarnet frames? Until recently you couldn't get them in the US anymore.

I'm afraid of that too. And I don't want to spend $200+ for new ones!

Anyone know where to get new frames?

Get a spare set of frames to have ready should your old ones break.  I'd keep wearing them until they actually break.  Pro tip. putting the frames in HOT water softens them up for putting the lenses in them more easily, but it was still a challenge. I've also used ISki Alta frames with Vuarnet lenses in the past when it was way cheaper to go that repair route.  The frames used to be the same.  The new ISki Alta frames are slightly different now.

I'm debating on what color I want...black, blue or the tortoise brown. Then I'm ordering a pair! I know the hot water trick. I've had many a face plant back in those days and had to pop them back in once in a while!

I wore them today for the first time since the mid 90's with no issue. But the frame temples use to break every few years so as old as they are I know it's not if but when!
