Off season metal detecting

Just curious if anyone does any metal detecting in the off season.  I've had the itch to get into it for a couple of years and I'm thinking this might be the year.  I have no delusions of striking it rich. I'm looking at it more as a form of recreation.

Under ski lifts could be profitable. The climb would be invigorating.

I've got to imagine once the snow melts at the ski area/resorts there would be a lot to be found.  The trick would be finding one that would let you detect.

Can't imagine they could keep you off of USFS land.

Agreed.  Would just have to look at whether the USFS allows detecting.  Every agency seems to have their own rules.
