This is the first season I have used my own skis so I was looking to learn about how to keep them in top shape. I've probably spent over 10 hours reading EpicSki, watching YouTube videos, etc. on waxing/tuning. How to do it. Whether to do it yourself. How often to do it. Whether to trust a local shop to do a full tune. On and on.
And despite spending so much time reading up on this stuff, I'm still relatively confused given the immense amount of differing opinions out there.
Basically, I am trying to decide between doing all this myself (except a full tune once or twice a season) and just taking it to my local REI shop here in NYC.
What should I in-source vs. out-source? I am trying to save money (don't want to spend $500 on tune-ups and waxing every season), but I also don't want to take on more than I can handle. Any tips for somebody that is probably overthinking all this?
