I weigh about 180, and I am about 5' 9". I purchased a pair of 170cm K2 Apache Xplorers after demoing them late in the 2008-2009 season.
I really liked the skis compared to what I had used before, and I am still reasonably happy with them.
I live in Texas, and only ski 6-10 days/year. I should add that I am in my mid-50s, but a reasonably athletic sort of guy who still does a few triathlons.
Since my Apaches were used when I purchased them, I cannot be sure how many days they have been on the mountain, but I have personally but around 70 days on them.
I am an intermediate-advanced intermediate skier who stays primarily on the piste, but enjoy getting off the trails on occasion.
I usually make one trip to Utah and another trip to Colorado each year.
I have no complaints, but cannot help but think I am missing something.
Being a cheapskate, I am thinking now is the time to grab a deal on something newer, assuming that I want something newer.
Given my few days, is it worthwhile to upgrade? Has something changed that would wow me? And if so, what would be a good choice for a new ski?
Thanks from a forum newbie and mediocre skier who still loves to get out there.
