My family of 5 started skiing 2 years ago. We are all fairly solid "blue square", groomed run skiers. For those of you who know Whistler, we enjoy runs off of Harmony and Symphony chairs, and at Blackcomb enjoy Jersy Cream and some 7th Heaven runs when the runs are groomed. This will just give you an idea of conditions we like.
We have been lucky enough to be able to go to Whistler/Blackcomb during the past two Aprils for about a week. We are considering going in February next year instead of April. I am assuming there will be considerably more snowfall while we are there and I'm wondering if we would be able to rely on there being some intermediate runs that will have been groomed? None of us do very well yet in powder. April has been perfect (especially since each year they have gotten fresh snow in the middle of our vacation. Not a dumping, but enough to improve conditions). However, next year February works better with our schedule.
It is much less expensive to buy the passes/make reservations now and I am thinking of doing so. However, I'm reluctant because I'd hate for it to dump snow the whole time and have no groomed runs that we're comfortable on. I know, it's a terrible problem to have (not!). Also, most of you probably don't understand my NOT wanting it to dump snow. But in all honesty I'd hate to spend the money and not have a good time skiing, and for us personally, if the entire mountain is covered in a foot of powder it would be tough for us newbies.
Would love to hear from those who have been to that area a variety of times throughout the season!
