Whistler Blackcomb is calling their development plan a renaissance.  The focus is on making WB more of a 4-season vacation destination but there are additions and enhancements for the slopes as well.  Phase I has a price tag of $100M (Canadian?) and includes a new multi-level day lodge at Base II that will include a waterpark.  Construction is projected to take two years once all the needed approvals are obtained.  Another $245K is earmarked for Phase II and III.  A complete renovation of the Blackcomb base is planned.

Liftblog talked about WB plans for new lifts last Nov.  An April update shows the new lifts that are part of the Renaissance plan.

WB set up a separate website with details about the plans.

The important part is the bike park expansion, the best in the world is getting better. I have no idea why mountains in the east don't even try to compete in a venue that doesn't require steep terrain or snow, it's really all we have that could be 'better' or as good simply by spending the $$ on trailbuilding and bike programs.
