I have been skiing the RS140 for about 4 years now. Things have probably changed since I bought my boots. I tried the RS 130 on in a store and compared to the 140, the shell felt softer and the liner definitely was different and had softer padding. Its hard to say about the shell stiffness, since the boot in the store was warm and temperature affects the boot stiffness a lot. I did not do a back to back comparison in the store.
I like the RS 140, but it is very stiff. Mine has the lace up liner, which I have never laced up. It took a little longer for the liner to break in for my foot than I expected, I assumed that was because of the cork. Once broken in, I just buckle em and go ski. I have a narrow foot and the fit is great. I have also taken the screws out of the back of the boots (both of them) and find it doesn't make the boots a lot softer, just a little softer. I have heard this is a no no, but I am not having any issue with it.
