Looking for advice on buying new powder skis [recently moved to Utah]

My parents recently moved to Utah (Layton) and I spent my first winter out there as well as spring break. When we moved out there I picked up a pair of Blizzard Magnum 7.0 IQs just beacause they were cheap at a ski swap and I had never skied at a big mountain before being from Missouri.

During spring break the bindings on both of my Magnums broke (one literally fell off my foot while in mid-air) so I decided to go and rent some Super 7s and loved them. By the end of winter break I was skiing pretty much everywhere at Snowbasin and with the great winter we had, my biggest struggle was not being able to float. I'm a fairly aggressive skiier and looking for a ski to help me get to the next level.

Have been shopping around looking at Saloman Rocker2s/Quest 115, Super/Soul 7s, Armada JJs/Magic Js, Dynastar Cham 117s and Atomic Automatic 109/117s. I don't necessarily need something that is great on groomers/crud too because my dad just picked up a pair of Smash 7s which I can use if he doesn't come out with me. I'm 5'9" 165

Also curious if buying demo skis is a bad idea. I don't need these to be my daily driver, just want something for those big powder days.

I've bought a few pairs of demo skis.  Never had an issue with them.  They're usually a little cheaper because some punters have been standing on the tips and the topsheets get cut up, but mine end up looking like that after a season of being thrown into the back of the truck.

Cheaper=better for me.  I'll buy new skis, but if I can get them for a lot cheaper, I'll buy used.

You have listed some well regarded skis. Of those I have skied, I like the Automatics the most. You may also want to put the Nordica Patron on the list. I have bought a number of pairs of demos in the past without issue but I think you want to make sure you would be dealing with someone you trust.

Also, while I have not skied them PTex1 (a good seller) on this site was advertising some new Cham 117s for $199 a week or so ago.

Tent sale at local SKi'N'see is something you should check out this summer in Sandy - think its around the end of August.   Great deals on last years Demos as well as new ski's - worth  checking out . I picked up some Line Mr. Pollard Opus there last year new for 299!

Armada JJ's are great for Utah - owned a pair in the past . Magic J's even better when it gets deep but JJ's better for everyday use.

Cham 117 is a great ski for deep stuff and we still have that pair available.  I work there part time and the ski was still there today.  Don't quite understand why.
