I really want a wide ski (probably 105-115 underfoot) that I can use on non-powder days. I have a great carving ski for the icy days and a pair of '09 Wateas that I love for the trees and chutes, but I'd like something a little more stable than the Wateas that I can use all over the mountain and that'll float okay on the few powder days I ski. I ski 40+ days a year but all of those days are at Deer Valley so very few of them are in more than 6 inches of fresh snow.
Some of the skis I've been considering are the Rossi Super 7, Volkl 108 (also considering the Mantra even though I know it might be even worse than my Wateas in powder), Liberty Origin or Helix, Armada JJ, or Blizzard Gunsmoke.
I'm not a big guy- just 5'7" 150 lbs- but I ski aggressively and fast. Basically what I'm looking for is a ski that's stable on groomers but also wide enough to outperform my Wateas in powder for those 5 or so days a year when I'm able to ski it. If anyone has any input on the skis I mentioned or any other suggestions I'd love to hear it.
