Alta and/or Snowbird March 31 thru April 3, 2016

Based on the LCC meetup thread, pretty clear there will be quite a few Bears around March 31 thru April 3. A few people are thinking of meeting for a few runs or apres. The idea is to try to post those mini-gatherings here.

Bill and are I hoping to meet up with @Jamesj and Vince at Snowbird on 3/31.

@SpikeDog plans to ski Alta on 4/2.  I'm hoping to find him when he's eating lunch at Collins Grill.  I have a lesson that morning.

Hoping to tailgate/grilling for lunch and après ski on by-pass road at Snowbird on Apr 3 (locals bring lawn chairs). May try to tailgate at Alta too on the 2nd, perhaps near Albion Day Lodge (open to better Alta location)? Some folks may be at those mtns on Mar 31 and Apr 1 too. Might be at Solitude on Apr 4?

Ooo, lawn chairs.  Good idea, I would've forgotten.  I thought we were steering towards the Wildcat base parking lot?!?

Anybody have a thought about parking at Snowbird?  Gadzoom base?

Lunch Saturday, I'll wait for ya, marznc.

Bypass road is good place to park and tailgate at Snowbird on Sunday, ski in/ski-out location, good for quick lunch or apres stops.  It's a little past the Peruvian Chair.  If you drive past most of the Snowbird Base complex you should see a sign pointing to make a right for by-pass road.  It has an extra wide shoulder for lots of free car parking.

Wildcat Base lot is good for Alta according to MarzNC, so that's probably where we will try to congregate on Saturday.

Vince and I are going to try to meet MarzNC on Thursday morning at Snowbird.  My pass does not allow me on the tram, so meeting at bypass lot or at tram base near Peruvian would work.

I am in SLC now and Vince says LCC and BCC got about 2 feet this week.  He was at Brighton Tuesday night and it was good, but he thinks

Tuesday morning was prime powder time.  It's fairly chilly here in SLC today about 40 degs and that means snow should be holding up pretty well at the ski areas.

Yup, I know the spot.  Take entry 4 past the Cliff lodge.  Sounds good.

marznc kindly directed me this way, but I got lost and posted in the older meet thread.  I'll be in the Cottonwoods 4/3 and 4/4, Sun + Mon.  Mid-Atlantic (MD) skier making a quick pitstop through UT for some Spring gusto. I may split days between Alta and Snowbird, depending on my amateur recon. Regardless, I intend to stop by the bypass tailgate on Sunday with a few Apres bevs to say Howdy!

Cheers,

Tim

Glad you found both threads.

Look for a PM.  Sometimes it can be harder than you think to find people without having someone's phone number.

Had a good time with JamesJ today at Snowbird.  Plenty of soft snow left although some of the groomers felt pretty skied off even mid-morning.

I'll be skiing Alta in the morning with friends who are intermediates.  Hope to meet up with a few others Bears this weekend.

Spent the day with Ski Divas mostly, but did run into snowalker first thing in the morning.

Looking forward to saying hello to a few Bears on Sat.  If not on the slopes, then at Watson's shortly after noon or at the tailgate party at 4:00.  I have a lesson 9:30-12:00.

Will be at Alta Saturday and back to Bird on Sunday.  Plan on tailgating in Wildcat lot 4pm tomorrow and on bypass road 4pm sunday.  Probably Park City Monday and Snowbird Tuesday.

There will be Bears all over Snowbird on Sun, April 2. In theory, the first meet up is at 10:00 at the base of the Mineral Basin lift. But if you don't already have the phone number of someone in the group, best to PM me for details of who you are looking for.

Tailgating at 4:00pm on the Bypass Road.

I'll be at Alta.

Spring skiing is here!
