Breckenridge Rentals

Greetings All,

Question: What are some of the better rental shops for gear (skiing) in terms of equipment variety and availability?  I am looking for a decent selection of carvers.

Thanks!

Are you looking for rentals on the hill or just in town? Before we bought our gear my family rented from Blue River Sports for many years and always had a good experience.

Lonestar is also a great ski shop though I have never rented from them but there service has always been good.

Don't know much about the on the hill rentals but pretty much everything is owned by the resort at this point so not sure there will be much difference between the shops.

Do you have specific skis that you want to try? The best thing to do is call around to see what the different shops carry and go from there.

I do, but most shops aren't going to carry Head Super Shapes.  I have never seen these skis being demo'd at any shop that I have rented from in the past.

It's hard to pin down a good place to demo from.  The reviews are all over the map!

That's why I've suggested calling the shops to see what they have.  They may not have what your thinking about, but maybe something better ;)

I used Avalanche Sports (back in January) and had great service- rented some Faction skis and the Kendo's- loved them both.  Really fun carving skis, but different in their own fun ways.

If you can get to Dillon, try these guys.  Probably best to give a call first to see if they have what you're looking for.  http://virginislandsski.com/ski-rental-packages/

Thanks Guys!

I would just add that I reserved three sets of skis thru their on-line reservation process.  We showed up and everything was ready to go, they just needed to fit to our boots.  Was out of there in minutes.  Plus it's cheaper on line.

Not sure if all shops do this.

Thanks Chip,

It's hit and miss with ski shops.  My good-bad experiences has been about 50/50 with most shops.  That is, you reserve a particular ski at a certain length get to the shop and they don't have your ski.

Luckily, I have my own boots so can exclude that from the experience.  I will check out Avalanche!
