Salomon Z10 Bindings and ....missing plate ?

Hello all. I thought I would ask you pros about this.

I got these bindings from eBay (Salomon Z10 Bindings) and when I took them to be installed, the shop told me they can't be installed because they are missing "plates".

When I contacted the seller, she says the following:

"The two "plates" are strips of metal with black printing on them that I think shows the measurements so you can place the bindings with the correct size."

So, yes there are 2 "metal strips" but they are not plates, just strips of metal ......

Was the shop wrong saying these can't be installed ? I don't really want to go through the hassle of returning these  ...

A photo of them out of the box is needed.  What needs to be seen is under the cardboard.

I think we have all we need from the photo of the label on the box. You know when we get the "I just bought system ski X, where can I get the binding that goes with it?" to which the answer is always- "The ski and the binding are sold together, they are meant to be packaged together."

... this is the 'other side' of that. It is a system binding that was supposed to be sold with a corresponding system ski. You might be able to get the rail from Salomon if you find a dealer that is willing to help... but returning the binding (if you can) and getting a non-system binding is going to be much simpler.

^ Nice!  Whiteroom knows what's up.  So there is your answer.

Ya you need those strips. No big deal, jus order them from an auth dealer, or try your luck going direct.

Here's the three strips from their shop manual.

Stupid question maybe, but have you takin the bindings out of the box? The strips are usually underneath the bindings.

Thanks for the answers, starting to make sense. Yes I have taken the stuff out of the box and there are those "strips", but as I assumed those are not enough. makes sense that these go with "system binding". I will try to return and if not, then try to get the correct plate from Salomon directly hopefully. Thanks a ton for the smarts !

Sorry, I just re read the post.
Ya, best thing to do is return them.
If you are stuck with them, you can order plates from Solomon. Or eBay them. A lot of grey market system skis are being sold without bindings. Someone might be desperately looking for those.
Cheers.
