Standing in the choke or crux...... - Page 3

I know this--if my friend is standing in the choke--you aren't going around him

I'm reminded of my run in Zdarsky (also known as 5th chute) at Taos.

I was stopped 50 or 100 feet above the choke, because another of our group was stopped just above the choke.

But what I could see, and those at the top perhaps couldn't, was that the skier just above the choke was waiting for another person stopped about 15 feet below the choke.  If that person had a legitimate reason to be stopped, I don't know.

As an aside, I have no problem with people stopped for legitimate reasons.  It would be nice to have the mountain to yourself, but it doesn't always happen.  And I consider just being gripped legitimate -- people have a right to push their limits.  (Note that by that I don't mean darned fools who are way over their heads.)

Agreed. However, an argument can be made that those who blast by such offenders are rendering a public service, in that he can look and say to himself, "Well, apparently someone can ski the sh!t out of this. Maybe I don't belong here."

And as an aside, this is a "He" problem not a "She" problem. About the only time you find a lady in such straights, you will usually find her idiot significant other somewhere nearby. Though, never near enough to lend a hand.

You are hanging out with the wrong crowd.

You're probably right.

The ones that are fully capable of getting into trouble without our help are way more fun. :D
