compare Elan Spectrum models 95/105 to real Mantras, not the rocker crap

Have a pair of Elan Amphibio 88's which are amazing but not quite enough for the chunky nasties as my good old 2011 Mantras. I demoed a blue pair of Spectrum Alu95,s last year and was quite impressed. 95 is close to my 96 under foot Mantras and fat doesn't impress me. What do you folks think of these for a hardcore Sugarloaf ski that can ski freshies and be solid when we get back to bedrock ice and other nasty stuff underneath?
Can actually pick up some 105 non Alu models for 230 delivered! But concened the lack of Alu may take away necessary edge control for the east. Mantras going on 90 days and ski is sound but the fragile bases are wounded.

I would definitely go for a sheet of metal. I have the Elan Spire which is an earlier version of the Spectrum. It is 100mm underfoot and has two sheets of metal. It's my all mountain ski.

My thoughts confirmed. If light, or on soft pow, or a lesser ability skier, Alu not necessary. But I may start or end a day on pow , but there is almost always a firmer part of a day where the Alu should help. Was just wondering if it made ski stiffer than a Mantra-->hard to imagine.

Short answer -- the Spectrum yes,  the Bonafide no !  About the new Mantra -- you put it right in the title -- '' rocker crap ''.
