Rossignol Experience 77 vs. Head Revolution 78

Hello,

I'm a relative beginner skier (in New England) looking to buy an entry level boot/ski/binding package during the end of season sales.

The shop I visited suggested two skis; the Rossignol Experience 77 and the Head Revolution 78.

Does anyone have an experience/thoughts on either of the skis?

The Head ski line is simply called REV and not revolution. While I've not skied the 78, I did own the Rev 85 and it is a solid ski, liked by many. That is true of the entire Rev line, pretty much true with the Rossi E line of skis. Either should be a fine ski for a beginner with plenty of performance as your skills elvove. You should tell us your height and weight and get some thoughts about what length.

I would not go to a wider ski for eastern conditions and a new skier.

Forget skis until you get boots that fit properly. Go to the "Ask the Boot Guys" forum and read the wikis about fitting and terminology. Then check the "Who's Who" to see if there is a boot fitter listed near you. If there is, call and make an appointment. If there isn't, tell us where you live and someone will be able to recommend a fitter. Don't go to a big box store and expect to get boots that actually fit. Having said that, we can now wait for the bootfitter hater to show up.
