New skis Base High under Toe Mount only

Thread Starter

I just got a new pair of Heads with Salomon STH2 bindings mounted and both skis are convex right below the toe bindings. Does it matter?  Did they use screws that are too long or did they not drill deep enough? They were shipped 2000 miles so I won't ship them back. Should I back out the screws and see if that flattens the bases or should I just scrape the bases flat and forget about it. Thanks in advance for any advice.

If by convex, you mean there are small raised bumps directly under the screws, then either screws that were to long were used, they didn't clean out the drilled holes before mounting, or they put too much glue in the hole. If you mean that the base is high from edge to edge then ...... I got nothin'

Screw bumps on the base won't significantly impact performance unless you're top tier professional.  Grinding the base may or may not work - better and more permanent success can be had with pulling the toe pieces off, grinding the screw tops down, and remounting.
