demo day. volkl RTM 86 , RTM 84 and Head Titan

Today i decided to try out the Head Titan in a 177 cm just for fun. The ski techs were sure I would like it. Well, I couldn't seem to find a run where I enjoyed the Titan. It just wasn't there for me. I figured it would remind me of the pursuit 800 but it didnt. I just didn't get along withthis ski . Since I own the RTM 86 in a 172 cm I figured it was the best of the RTM series. I had the 177 cm first and then downsized to the 172. I seemed to ski much better on the 172 but was just curious about the 84. Would the spring steel make the ski that much different . Let me say the RTM 84 is a blast to ski and much more fun than the 86. I found myself skiing at crazy speeds and just having fun. I'm Def sold on the 84 over the 86. Not saying the 86 is a bad ski. In fact it's a great ski but the 84 just had that extra fun factor.

I had demo'd the new Volkl RTM 84 earlier this season, and, fully agree with your experiences. It was the highlight of 6 ski demo for me. The 15-16 RTM 84 gets great reviews, far better than it's predecessor's in the RTM series. While I have not demo'd the Head Supershape Titan, that ski has always had polarized reviews either like it or blahh it. Most love the 3 narrower Head Supershapes, Speed, Magnum and Rally.

I was really impressed with the balance of the 84. It was pretty quick edge to edge and very stable . I rode up the lift with a skier on the 167 RTM and he loved that length. At 5"10 I figured they were to short for him but he did lay down some serious turns.

Yeah, I was a definite blah on the Supershape Titan as well. It just feels dead to me, for what should be a pretty energetic and versatile ski in theory. I haven't skied the RTM 84, but really need to demo it based on all the positive feedback. Plus, it looks awesome this year.

I can't speak to the Head or the RTM86.... but I'm in love with my RTM 84.  The ski is stiff and does not ski short despite the tip and tail rocker.  One of the most versatile skis I've ever ridden....  "eastern pow (ie firm/ice for you westerners)"... What slick?  Piles of sugar ski almost like piles of  powder... packed down soft snow that feels  like rough road is smoothed out.  The ski doesn't balk at several inches of fresh... or after it's cut up.  Oh... and it rails on groomers too..

I'm 5'3" and about 150lbs..... the 162 is plenty of ski.
