Blizzard M power 8.7 iq fs and me

Hello, new poster here. I'm just getting back into skiing after considerable time away. I'm trying to collect some used gear to get up to speed before I spend real money. I'm 5'11" and 205lb. I consider myself to be an advanced intermediate and stick to blue and black groomers. I'm on the east coast and ski places like jay peak and Sunday river. Ice performance is paramount.

I've picked up some boots that fit great though the flex might be light for me (90). I plan on getting properly fitted at a later date when I'm ready to spend more money.

Right now I'm looking for skis and have found a local pair of Blizzard m-powers in 174cm for a fair price (225) that appear to be in good shape. They seem to be just right but everything I've read suggests they are an expert level ski, and I'm therefore concerned I'll be in over my head with them. Some people have said that with my weight it won't be a problem, but if I'm better off with a more flexible ski, I'll keep looking.

Thanks in advance!

At that length they should be fine for your weight.

Their width aren't ideal for an east coast groomer ski but for the cheap price you can give it a go.  If you don't like them selling them shouldn't be a problem.  And if anything, you will have a better idea of what you're looking for.

For sure if you are in any way aggressive those boots are too soft.

Thanks for the help.  I'll see if I can get my hands on these and think about getting a professional fitting for a new pair of boots.

These are nice skis, had a pair of the non-power 87's in 174 and demoed these in same. They'll be fine for you at 174. Good choice. And they have preternatural edge hold. So not as good as a 70 mm carver, but better than most mid-fats.

That will be a great one trick pony to get back into it, based on my experience with the non-M Power version.

Just gifted mine to a young bike racing team mate that is making the jump from tele to dh, and he is having a blast on them everywhere at Whitefish Mountain.
