Mountain Collective 2016/17 [14 destinations, including Whistler, Stowe, Telluride, Alta/Snowbird, . . .] - Page 5

Looks like the MCP reciprocal 50% perk will be new for Stowe in 2016-17 as well.  By the way, even the early bird price for the StoweSeven (holiday blackout dates) is well over $1500 for one adult.  That means more than the cost of an Alta Family Pass for two adults and two kids!

Status bar has moved into LIMITED STOCK at $399.  Bonus day still available.

In another thread, Chamonix was mentioned.  For the affiliate resorts outside North America it pays to read the fine print.  Only get 2 included days.  Additional days are not discounted.

"Please note, that the global affiliate destinations: Chamonix (France), Hakuba Valley (Japan), and Valle Nevado (Chile) do not qualify for 50% off lift tickets."

I just read online that the Mountain Collective Spring Sale ends on June 17th. It looks like the 3rd bonus day will go away and the price will go up.

Interesting . . . first time I've ever seen an end date for a given price mentioned in advance.  According to the Freestyle article on 6/9/16 than mentions June 17, Mountain Collective provided info.  In 2015, the last stage to include a Bonus Day ended in early July.

The Freestyle article was mostly a somewhat silly cost comparison for using the MCP vs paying window price to ski 2 days at all 12 destinations.  I imagine relatively few people would do that considering that travel to MCP destinations is not exactly free, no matter where you live.

As I expected, the deadline mentioned by Freestyle in early June wasn't real.  Impossible to tell if Freestyle made it up or heard something wrong.  As of June 20, the $399 price with a bonus day is still going.  The status bar is towards the end of LIMITED STOCK.  My guess is that sales for this stage will last until early July.

Status bar has moved into NEARLY SOLD OUT at $399 with bonus day.

The final push is on.  Status bar is close to the end of NEARLY SOLD OUT.  June 28 there were posts all over Facebook by the MCP resorts about the $399 + bonus day deal ending soon.  The MCP FB page has almost 20,000 Likes.

Someone asked about another northeast destination on the MCP FB page.  Sounds as if something could be in the works.

If MCP does add another east coast destination, will it be the coming season? Since I already bought the MCP pass, if they are adding one, I can still use it to visit the newly added resort, correct?

I don't think you will know until officially announced unless somebody has inside information although the Facebook post sounds promising.

That is how MCP has worked in the past as I've used it at places that were not included when I bought it.

It's gone folks.  I was going to call a family member to see if they were good for SLC this year and figured I'd check first.  No dice.

I'm not terribly disappointed.

Yep, "spring sales" are done.  In the past, "Fall" has meant some time in August.

As a previous season buyer who didn't renew, I just got an email "Last chance to get a bonus day". "Not available to general public" was in the body of the email. Must purchase by 8/1. Still $399

There is also the tease: "Stay tuned, we will be sharing more exciting news about the upcoming 2016-17 Mountain Collective season soon!"

The embedded link in the e-mail has no personal information. I think anybody can use it.

Then, there's always the "While Supply Last" caveat.

There was a similar opportunity last year.  Since I already bought the 2016-17 MCP, didn't get the email.

One of my waterskiing buds missed the initial cutoff.  Thanks to Dryheat, I called him and he got the bonus day.

He didn't get an email and it still showed sold out on the website, but he called and they gave him the VIP deal.

Early warning, not for this upcoming 2016-17 season but for the following season . . . in 2017-18 Whistler-Blackcomb will no longer be part of the MCP.  That's because Vail announced the purchase of W-B in August 2016.

MCP on FB: $409 with 14 destinations: Telluride and Revelstoke join the MCP.

Whistlers a huge loss, but that's a pretty good rebound.

Where did you see Telluride and Revelstoke? I checked their FB and instagram and don't see that, though FB says they will have an announcement on instagram sometime this morning.

Clue 3: Destination 1 has a one-of-kind gondola set to celebrate its 20th anniversary this season.

Lone Peak Tram ???

The Lone Peak tram opened during the 1995/1996 season. mmmmm. :dunno

My bet is on Big Sky & Revelstoke.

Well, still not showing on the MCP website but Unofficial has posted an article based on seeing a FB post.  So the "secret" is definitely out.

http://unofficialnetworks.com/2016/08/the-mountain-collective-adds-revelstoke-and-telluride-25-resorts-and-counting

"While Whistler Blackcomb might not be covered under the Mountain Collective Pass beyond the 2016/2017 season, passholders can look forward to accessing two more iconic resorts this upcoming ski season.

In an Facebook post, the Mountain Collective announced this morning that they will be adding Telluride and Revelstoke to their long list of world-class resorts. . . . "

They post the clues on Instagram.

They are up to #7 of 8.

Now it's actually looking like Telluride and Revelstoke.

Depending on what Boyne is getting from the MAX Pass alliance, perhaps they will rethink now that W-B will be going to Epic.  I would think that may impact people who get season passes at Crystal and also travel to ski.

Or perhaps Boyne worries that people who currently get season passes at Boyne ski areas in Michigan would switch to the MCP if Big Sky were included.  Although other MCP ski resorts solve that problem by including 50% days at MCP resorts as a perk for the most expensive season passes.

It's official - Telluride and Revelstoke.

As was reported by @fosphenytoin at 7:30am this morning. :rolleyes

I think my ski buddy who lives in Albuquerque should be happy.  Maybe he'll figure out a way to fit in a few days at Telluride this season.  Or maybe I could add a few days after we spend a week at Taos for Telluride.  Hmm . . .

Just got the MCP email. Telluride is one of my all time favorites. Good news.

Edit: So the email seems to be indicating that sales have reopened. At $409.

Yep, the MCP website got updated.  So Stowe remains the only MCP destination in the east.

Whistler stays on MCP for this year, and Telluride/Revelstoke added right away. Basically, the removal is one year away while the addition is for this season.

That's pretty aggressive.

(I'm not complaining)

The last two summers, there were additions to the MCP in August when sales re-opened.  The Banff ski resorts in 2014, then Stowe and Taos in 2015.  Guess that's supposed to be incentive for people who pass up the early bird pricing Mar-Jun.  Always have allowed early buyers to benefit from the additions.

Whistler will be the first to leave the Mountain Collective since it was begun in 2012.

List for 2016-17, as of August 2016:

North American Destinations

  • Jackson Hole
  • Aspen/Snowmass
  • Alta/Snowbird
  • Mammoth
  • Squaw/Alpine Meadows
  • Whistler/Blackcomb
  • Lake Louise/Sunshine Village/Norquay
  • Revelstoke *NEW
  • Sun Valley
  • Taos
  • Telluride *NEW
  • Stowe

Thredo in Australia and Queenstown/Coronet Peak/Remarkables in New Zealand brings the count to 14.

Valle Nevado, Hakuba, Chamomix still have 2 days included as affiliates, but no 50% discount on additional days
