Hi, i'm Patrick from the Netherlands. In advance I apologize if the information I seek is already located in another topic. Although I think every 'what ski should I buy question' is rather unique. I'm 185 lbs (85kg) and 6'0 (183cm). My level is certainly not pro, but pretty experienced. I've been skiing since I was 3 and I'm now 30 years old.
Every year we go skiing in the Italian Alps. I have got a pair of Volkl Racetigers RC's 168 that are now nearing their end. This year will be their last trip. Those ski's really helped me forwards in terms of carving and speed. Before that, we rented ski's and those were normally to soft.
I like skiing in a relatively fast pace. The Racetigers are very good for that, but only when the groomers are in good conditions. And let's face it, that is, the situations are not always ideal. Last year it's snowed heavily and in those conditions the ski's are not fun to ride.
So, I'm looking for a fast pace carver for the well prepared groomers that also go well in icy, snowy or warm conditions. I also want to play a bit more, so taking jumps and some short off piste trails. I know you can't have it all, but for that one week a year I'm not going to buy more that one pair of ski's.
Therefore, I initially wanted a pair of Salomon X-Drive 80 FS, but the reviewers say those are not for fast pace. I think Blizzard Brahma's should do the trick, they are very well loved here - from what I read. But on this forum they recommend it in 187 cm and that's quite a step up for my, since I now have 168. My current ones might be too short, or the lifted tips of the Brahma's ask for a longer one. So I figured it is worth a shot to post it in this forum of enthousiasts.
Many thanks in advance
