Jim, you're good. You just got caught up in the ego fervor between Metaphor and me. You apologized. Water under the bridge. There are things I needed to apologize for as well. I think most of this is because I said wide stance people are in the lodge and that was over the top and had to apologize for it. We would have settled it and been able to have a nice conversation, but instead Metaphor doubled down on your comments. I was explaining why your comments were wrong, because apparently he/she and everyone supporting him/her didn't understand the insult.
Average means that of all the skiers up on the mountain about half are worse than me and half are better than me. I know what the average skier looks like, so when an instructor tells me I look like this, it's pretty offensive (and wrong) after all the work and effort I've put into it over the years. I think you understand that, so you understand why I responded to you the way I did. But, Metaphor didn't seem to understand the over the top insult you gave me, and that my response was actually quite measured. So, this continued discussion of the average skier comment is for anyone else that thinks Metaphor's response to me is reasonable. It seems to me that there's this double standard where insulting a non-instructor's skiing is ok and they shouldn't have any ego, but the slightest questioning of an instructor's ability (asking for a video when they give only unsolicited negative comments) is met with endorsed personal attacks and outrage without realizing that's just a bunch of ego also.
