Little kids ski sizes

My daughter and her family with 3 adorable (most of the time) granddaughters just moved back here from NC. Nana and Papa want to take them skiing. The two older ones are 5 1/2 and almost 4.

I'm fairly savvy about ski gear, but I don't have a clue as to sizing for the girl's skis. We'll rent for the first couple of times, but if they take to it we'll want to get them their own gear-at least skis. Leasing boots is probably the way to go as they grow. We'll drag our daughter out too-she was a high school racer. She may whine more than the kids about the cold!

Been through this recently as i've got 2 girls.. 3 and 12..

Skis no longer than chin height..

and Roces adjustable boots.. once you know they love the sport.    My oldest loves her Roces.. which is good because they should fit her for 3 more seasons... my youngest is in used boots we found that fits.. but so far she's had 2 ski days this year..  got skis and boots for the young one used for $40..  she doesn't care, the stuff fits good and i can sell it for what I paid..

There is a big ski sale and swap in the fall in Syracuse.  You could get boots, skis, and other stuff there next fall.

There's also a ski swap in the fall at Greek Peak.  I'm planning on getting my now 3-year-old some skis there next fall.  I didn't get a chance to go last fall, but I spoke with a friend who did, and they said they had plenty of little kids' skis.

Where are you planning on skiing with them?

We took them to Bristol on Sunday. They did great, especially the littler one who had never been on skis before. I'll keep my eyes open for used stuff locally and try to lease boots on a yearly basis (the local shop does this).

Thanks for all the advice.
