Moving part on binding

Hi guys! I want to ask about this moving part of the binding. What is the function of it? I am asking it because on one ski, It started to move easier and I lost that ski easier than another one. I think it happens because of that part. What can be a problem?

It's an anti friction device (AFD) that's supposed to reduce the boot sole hanging up on the ski in a release. The less sliding one probably has dirt/corrosion beneath it and should be cleaned out.

IMO if your not sure about the binding, take it to a shop and have the experts check it out.

How old is the binding ?

That plate should slide easy.

It's called an 'AFD' or Anti Friction Device, it reduces friction between your boot and the binding during a fall. They should glide smoothly but have a feeling that there is spring tension on them and they should quickly and easily return to a centered position. As far as what can go wrong, they can get contaminated with grit from your boots and not move freely, the spring inside that returns the AFD can fail or they can break.A problem with the AFD can effect the automatic toe height adjustment on that binding causing releases and a 'sloppy feeling' between boot and ski.

On bindings I have a general rule, if you have to ask get it done right.

You should ask to learn, but the first time get it do by a professional (ask if you can watch so that you understand and learn) what you are paying for is your education and the peace of mind that its fix correctly.

A lot here have been through the school of hard knocks in equipment and have paid the price (pain wise), learn but be smart about it.

Have fun.

I have read everything you told me and then I have checked the part again. One of them, moves smoothly and it returns to centered position quickly. But another one, moves too easy, and that one losts my ski very easy ( sorry for my english 😂). What can I do to it?
