K2 Pinnacle 110s, and 245lb expert skier. Less than happy and need advice.

Hey All,

Just curious, and would like some feedback.

I'm 6'1, 245lb, 38yo, an expert skier. I ski mostly New England, steep fast slopes, and when the snow allows (unfortunately not this year) the trees, with maybe 40% off-piste. I try to get out west for a week a year.

I recently went to a "custom boot-fitter" while out west and replaced my 10 year old pair of "custom-fit boots" as they were totally worked over. I told the guys what I ski, where I ski, and how I ski. I was sold a pair of K2 Pinalce 110s. I was weary, as I'm a big guy and ski hard. My previous Lange 120s were good, and treated me well, and stepping down in flex, given my size, had me worried.

With a few days on the boot, I was bummed. I flex them to their limits and have MULTIPLE other issues with the "custom fitting, ala foot-bed and foam liner." The first 3 days I spent more time in the shop reworking the liners and shell than on the mountain, though I'd prefer to keep this thread about the actual boot, and not the fitter...

This said, what are your thoughts on the K2 110 Pinacle for my size? I'm less than happy and trying to come up with a solution with the company who sold me the boots. I'm tired of them being reworked to address fitment only to have them squish under me. Seems I'm chasing my tail here...

Thoughts?

best suggestion.....take it up with the fitter rather than on the internet

right now, if the fitter reads this and recognizes you/the boots from this all you have done in alienate them!

boot fitting is a 2 way thing, your feedback at the time of the initial fitting is important, if you say at that point " hey guys i am think this is too soft and i WANT to try other options" then you have a chance, if you sit there and play along wit whatever someone give you and don't ask questions or challenge them on things like this then you have to take some of the wrap... you state that you are an EXPERT skier, i would hope that as an EXPERT you might know roughly what you were looking for in terms of flex fit and feel from a boot, and if you are not getting what you are looking for that you would stop the process and discuss it.

In my opinion the boot is way too soft for someone your size, if you are as strong a skier as you suggest you should be looking at 130 flex or there about, you aren't going to make a 110 any stiffer than it is

sorry for the blunt response but at this time of year boot fitters suffer badly from people telling us that boots wrong for various reasons, as i said it is a 2 way thing, if you were a beginner and said "guys i really need your guidance on this" then things might be different
