I don't know of these are old enough to be Retro, but they sure are vintage, and they are classics.
These are the original Stockli Stormrider XL's, with the red, white and blue textured "flames" top sheet.
20 M radius
Mounted with VIST 10mm lifters which will accommodate almost any binding, and allow the ski to flex perfectly. These are drilled for a Salomon 916, or 914, and a 305mm BSL.
Included are a near mint pair of Salomon 914's DIN 6-14. They were pulled from an old pair of our daughters J3 SG skis, and have very little use. As you can see from the pics, minimal scratching, they look great on the skis. Appropriate bindings, 2004 vintage.
The skis are in great shape. The bases were ground lightly just once when they were originally set up. They have some minor scratches, but no divots, no repairs, etc. Another light grind would make them perfect. They have at least 3/4' of the original edge left, maybe more. The bases have always been loaded with wax, and stored that way.
The top sides have some minimal chipping on the edge in a couple of places, and minimal scratches. They look great.
I had a connection with Stockli, and I got two more pairs of Stormriders the following year, I still have them. One is my rock ski, with about 300+ days on them. Still skis amazingly well. The other pair have, by my guess about 100 days on them, and ski like they are new. I ski them a few days a season. My best guess is that these have about 50 days on them.
The Stormrider XL was really a groundbreaking ski. Basically a GS race layup, with a tiny bit more gentle flex, and a shorter radius. And a 10mm wider waist. A real high performance "all mountain ski." The have a sandwich core, and two full layers of titanal. Great bases, top quality edge. Typical high end Stockli built. I think the shop price on these at the time was about $800.
They still ski really well. In the retro world, this isn't like a pair of 207cm straight skis!
I'm selling them as we've sold our ski house, and we're looking to downsize into smaller ski space, and a smaller year round home. I have 40+ years of ski stuff to find homes for!
I'll sell these for $175, shipped. Or, pick them up for $125. That's skis and bindings.
We live 20 miles North of Boston.
