Hey guys,

I have a basic question that is quite hard for me. Please help and advise..

I am 6'2" and 184 lb (189 cm & 84 kg). I ski in WA ( Crystal & Snoqualmie) on groomed and all mountain (or whatever that means here). I am intermediate adv., that means for me, that I am ok on blue, and with some problems on some black if there are bigger moguls. For example in Snoqualmie on black are not big moguls and I am quite fine, but in Crystal there were a lot and I have some problems to curve around some/ a lot of them. Anyway I am not shy, trying to take the challenge and every weekend/week I go to ski. I am in my mid 30s, so not going crazy but trying to get better and have fun.

I had Rossignol experience 80, 177cm. Great skis, but feel them a bit too short, because the bindings are right in the middle of the ski, and the tip seems shorter. I returned them to REI and I want a replacement and they have K2 85ti ( and 80 as well). I have for 85ti the option to go with 177 cm or 184 cm. What do you think should be the best for me? It is quite important because I go to Whistler in a week. I know that k2 85 is more expensive but my problem is not money, but the best ski for me. I try to go with ski with bindings because is easier for me. I want to continue with REI because they are really nice and seems good.

Thanks a lot, in advance!

I have the 85's in 177.  (5'10", 180 lbs., strong advanced 60-yr. old)

After a few days on 177's, I wouldn't be afraid of sizing up, but don't feel the need to either.

Your height says 184.  Your weight says go either way.  'Intermediate/adv.' says to me 177.

My 177's are very stable at speed on groomed and in funky chopped conditions.  And quick enough anywhere as needed.

IMO -- you'll likely gain more in ease & quickness w/ 177's than you will lose in stability vs. the 184's.

The mounting point does seem to be quite far back (due to tip rocker but no tai rocker) compared to many other skis on the rack.  Another reason I went with 177 vs. 184.

Thank you for the advice! I went with 177 as you suggested.
