Where to go from NYC this weekend?

Having recently moved to NYC from Boston it takes a little bit more for me to drive up on a whim and check things out. Any advice for this weekend? Areas I'm considering: Berkshire East, Gore, Mt Snow, Okemo, Killington, Sugarbush? I'm an advanced-intermediate skier and am looking for some variety. I skied at Okemo last year and got bored within a day (considering it on account of snow making capacity). I really enjoyed Sugarbush, but am unsure if the conditions warrant the 5 1/2 hour drive from New York.

Any tips?

If you are dead set on skiing this weekend I would suggest Okemo or Mt Snow.

Everybody up here got hammered with rain, and it has been 10+ days since anyone got any real decent snow. The drop into cold temps means anything not groomed is going to be a nice sheet of ice.

Unless somebody else chimes in with a first hand account about what is open and skiing well today or tomorrow, you may be sticking to groomers.

Killington has a ton open, but they grooming is not always the best, and there are far too many bottlenecks and steeper pitches on intermediate terrain. Things will get scraped off in a heartbeat.

If you are on groomers Okemo and Mt Snow make more sense than Killington and Sugarbush. While they are not as steep, that actually does a better job preserving a good skiable condition.

1 day each at okemo and Mt Snow? Skip this weekend if you can and wait to see if something comes together in the weather for Pres Day? Weather and upcoming holiday is a tough spot--it has been that kind of winter.

Hop a plane for Colorado.

Wherever you go it will be same, something on top of hardback.  We had two good winters in a row and this is the payback.  I would go when you can, because it will all be done by mid-March at the latest.
