Finally dragged the little camera with me. Caught up with one of the groups today to make some turns in the Olympic Bowl and area. Fun afternoon with everyone, a few photos.
Couldn't resist a photo with the Bronco fan.
One of Boot and I.
Lunch meet up.
Heading over the side.
Some bumps near Olympic Bowl. Someone can put in which run since I forget we did a few.
Crank, cranking some powder up in his turns.
Riad, one of our newer bears, having some fun in the bumps. Fun afternoon in the warmth.

Day 5, Highlands Pt. 2
(Please correct me if I have any of the handles wrong.)
Another view of Highlands Bowl. This time a few of us just dropped in from the end of the cat ride.
@crank exploring part of Olympic Bowl. This run got better later, after the snow softened a bit.

Wow, so impressed with all the Bears that made the hike to Highland Bowl summit on Friday and/or Sunday. Way to go!
I'm back home in Northern VA. Here are a few pics from my last day at the Aspen Gathering, at Highlands on Sunday, 2/7/16. I think I have a few more good pics from my days in Aspen in my camera and will post when I get a chance over the next few days.
For a guy recovering from respiratory issues, Bluestreak skiing amazingly at 11,000'.
Matchstix looking classic:
Northeasterner in Deep Temerity, still seeking challenges after hiking the Bowl earlier in the day.
MattS finishing a run in Deep Temerity, I never did get a good shot of this fine skier. That just means we have to do it again next time
Sunday was a short day for me, had to pack-up, then drive to SLC for flight home Monday morning. But I got in four exceptional runs with MDSkier (John) that left me totally impressed with his abilities to manage himself efficiently in the steep and deep.
Here on Sodbuster off the Deep Temerity chair:
Baddest ass geezer on EpicSki? We dropped in early at Whip’s Veneration, but a couple days before John hiked to the summit of Highland Bowl. Late next season he starts qualifying for Septuagenarian discounts.
Scoping out Whip's Veneration in Highland Bowl, Aspen Highlands, CO:
John generally skis in a very measured manner with remarkable endurance, but can scramble like a billygoat when required. Here above the Highland Bowl runout:
I took a little gasp when I first saw this photo on my laptop during the flight home. It’s among the most beautiful scenes (Pyramid Peak & the Maroon Bells) I’ve ever captured from a ski slope with my goofy little point and shoot camera. John on Deception trail in Olympic Bowl at Aspen Highlands.
Skiing with all the Bears in places like Aspen just does it for me. Happy trails to all until we meet again!post #79 of 1632/8/16 at 10:43pm
Had dinner at Little world in SLC few hours ago. Should have schedule a few more days with the gathering crew prior to our next leg of our road trip.
Really enjoyed skiing with everybody.
Couple of pics from Highland, Sunday 2/7/16.
Refueling before the afternoon runs.post #80 of 1632/9/16 at 11:36amPeter and I are on the runway at Denver airport. Back to reality😞
We had an excellent time👌🏼Awesome to meet new people and ski with some of them. Thanks Gathermeister.

Snowmass, Final Two Days
Day 6 meetup at the top of Village Express.
Gully / cornice practice?
View of AMF (with the tree in the middle) and Gowdy's (with the cornice and rocks sticking out). We came back the next day to try AMF, which was skiing well.
We looked at possible, but its condition no longer fitted its name. Baby Ruth was still okay, though.
Day 7 meetup at the top of Village Express.
Another view of the Cirque showing KT gully, which was skiing well.post #82 of 1632/9/16 at 4:08pm
Fun final day out in Aspen, the bitter dregs of the gathering all met up on time this morning at Snowmassfor the first few runs. We warmed up in the pipe, then headed up to the Cirque lift. Old Boot finally has his lungs and ski legs, nice to see him get to play a little in the bumps and take in the scenery on the cirque headwall. Beautiful views.
Started the day in the park, playing on the wall. May add more video later but couldn't pass up posting TGedney showing us how it's done.
Found a couple of perfectly good skiers thrown away under the cirque wall.
Skiing out after the wall.
Worth the trip for the scenery.
Great scenery, nice to see Old Boot getting his legs back.
Playing in the bumps on the way to lunch.
Committing to the next turn.
More playing in the bumps in the afternoon for Boot, Rainbow Jenny, April and I.
April making her way down.
A few tips to play with this afternoon with Jenny and April, trying out some new techniques in the bumps,
Need more gatherings for more practice. Had a great week.
So good to see everyone again and meet up with new bears.post #83 of 1632/9/16 at 4:26pm
Alright, so who hiked Highland Bowl during the Gathering? I did not, but I want to recognize the awesome aerobic animals and ski demons around here. I think it is quite a distinction for a recreational skier/boarder.
Here's my wild guess, please amend as appropriate.

I am impressed. Tim is showing really good skiing skills in the pipe. A few minor tweaks and he can be the the pipe-meister.
Had suggestion for Alta last night, but Mrs. Grump is not high up on Alta. As @TimGedney so succinctly put it, Alta is stands for "Another Long Traverse Ahead". Mrs. Grump agrees with him. So we did Brighton today.Nice little hill. Skied well. Found some interesting stuff off Millie's but it ain't no Highlands.
Once again it was really fun skiing with everybody and kudos to the Gathermeister for all his efforts to make it all possible.post #85 of 1632/9/16 at 7:16pmI have several queued up as I sit here on the tarmac, but the one I'll feature at the moment highlights my three "old reliable" Gathering buddies who always manage to lead me to good snow and always have the right attitude: @JohnL, @SKI-3PO, and @garyskr. A few random pics now that I'm home... 1 from each day...
Day 1, Aspen Mountain (Ajax) : Empty slopes during early morning first tracks... everything was very soft after a couple of inches ovenight.
Day 2, Snowmass : View from the top of the Poma, with @marznc and @MattSmith in the foreground, and @Lofcaudio and @drewder in the background by the sign (I don't think the other folks are bears... but correct me if I'm wrong)
Day 3, Aspen Highlands : Sunny view of Highland Bowl in the morning before the bowl opened, snowcat waiting.
Day 4, Aspen Mountain (Ajax) : @Old Boot on Buckhorn with a great view (Highlands in the background)
Day 6, Snowmass : View toward the bottom of Sheer Bliss from the top of Green Cabin just east of the Cirquepost #89 of 1632/9/16 at 8:04pm

I also was listed, but also did not make the hike.
I did get my head above 13K on Monday at Breckenridge as I did the hike to the top of Peak 8 at Breckenridge which is 12,998'. But starting at top of Imperial Express elevation 12,840' (the highest lift in North America) means I didn't even climb 160 feet. Breck lived up to it's Fridge nickname as it was sunny, but winds were 20-30 mph all day so I added a neck gaiter and heat pack to my gloves when bus driver from Airport Rd lot asked me if I was prepared for it. The windpack and windsift skied well and was especially good on run after hike.
