It has occurs to me that we could swamp the ticket office if we all try to activate a MCP at the gondola ticket office betwen 8:30 and 9 am the first Gathering day.  I am wondering if I should warn them that we are coming.

I don't know how many of us have the MCP, and of those how many are planning to activate it then.

Note that the ticket offices open at 8:15 am, so trying to do it before you get on the bus in the morning would be really, really tight timing.

If you can do it the day before, it would be a good idea.

For people who are staying at Snowmass, would it work to get the MCP there before getting on a bus?

My crew of five are arriving the evening of Feb. 2 and will all need to get the MCP on Wed morning.  So add 4 to the vote count.

Ok, flawed poll.  I forgot that people are bringing non-members, so should have had multiple values.

The "prompt hard chargers" should get their pass at the gondola and be sure to get up the mountain early.

Well, let's do the numbers:

If you are at one of the Snowmass ticket offices at 8:15 and then take the bus, you should should make the  8:45 bus (8:47 from the base) and get to Aspen at 9:15.  Then what, ten minutes to walk and ten to get your boots on, in line for the Gondola by 9:35, on by 9:40 (hopefully).  The gondola is a 14 minute ride, so that puts you at the top at 9:54.  Three minutes to get to the kiosk, it is now 9:57.

Unfortunately, 8:15 am is the transition time from a bus every 7 to 15 minutes to a bus every half hour.

Doing it the other way,

8:15 bus from Snowmass arrives 8:45, walk to the plaza, arrive around 8:50. Ten minutes to boot up.  If there is no jam, five minutes to get your pass, in line by around 9:05 and to the top well before 9:30.  If there is a jam, maybe 1/2 hour? to get the pass and in line by around 9:30, comes out about the same.

So to be sure of making the 9:30 start with SHRED, people from Snowmass should take a bus around 7:45 (if they have to activate an MCP or buy a ticket).  Those who already have a pass should be ok at 8:00 or even 8:15.

As a special one-time accomodation for start-up difficulties, one of the other groups will swing by the customer service kiosk at 10:30 and pick up anyone who was delayed.

[edit: oops -GM just did the math (see previous post - not likely to make bootup :-(  ]

YES. A great idea but do they open early enough to then arrive at Ajax for the Silver queen Gondola ride at 9 am.

Remember The bus takes 30 min to go from Snowmass to Aspen Ruby Park. Then 10 minutes to walk to Aspen Mt.

You could also get the tickets for Wed on Tues afternoon (If you arrive before office closing)   <<<< Best option

Snowmass Mall ticket office closes at 4:45 pm
