Volkl Confession

144-117-133

Skied in a 186 cm.

Tip & Tail Rocker, camber underfoot, Tintanal, Carbon.

Skied softer than the Katana V-Werks and is lighter than the original Katana. It skied very well in crud, tight trees, off-piste, and just railed on the groomers.

It's gonna be a great crud-busting/pow/big mountain ski.

I'll probably go with a 193 when it becomes available.

Comparisons to Shiro?  Love my 193's but since I live in the PNW would love something that handles heavy pow, crud a tad better.

Has less sidecut than both the Shiro & KVW. So my impression is/was that is is less turny than both of those two.

But with it being softer than the KVW (and maybe the Shiro too), I was still able to get it to come around pretty easily.

I have never skied the V-Werks but the new Confession is definitely softer then the 2011-2014 metal "regular" Katana.  However, it most definitely is stiffer than the Shiro.  From stiffest to softest: Katana > Confession > Shiro.

I absolutely love the Shiro but had a very good experience with the Confession.  I only skied it on very hard snow but it had remarkable edge grip, nice energy from the camber and felt stiff enough to haul ass but also damp - the lack of dampness was always my issue with the Katana.  It did not ski like it had an overall large radius and felt plenty able to snap off a relatively short turn.  Also, the edge grip on basically blue ice really was amazing.

The Confession did feel a little heavy relative to the Shiro.  Could have been the demo binding.

Volkl Confession vs Blizzard Bodacious 2016, how different or the same are they?
