I just heard Bill Johnson passed away. I remember watching his Gold medal run, Franz Klammer kinda making fun of him before the race then Bill pounded everybody.

I don't believe his quality of life was very good in recent years. yet it still saddens me to hear of his passing.

Sad, sad story.

A cautionary tale on returning to downhill competition.

He was a hero to me, an icon who took a risk at age 40 to relive old dreams, RIP Bill.

Yeah, downhill on the big stage carries alot of risk. I remember seeing him interviewed before one of his comeback races and he was wearing his Olympic speed suit, " this suits never been beat" I think was the line he used.
