Help on choosing the right ski

I am going out west to ski and I am hoping someone can give me some information about which skis to take with me. I have been using Rossignol Cobras that I purchased in 2010 for several years. They have been great for most terrain I have come across. However they have been harder to handle in powder and the back bowls, but also have given me trouble in moguls - they almost feel too long to consistently navigate. Admittedly my form isn't great in moguls.

Last season a friend gave me a pair of his old Rossignol Scratch FS (04 I think) skis that he had no use for. I realize that they are park skis, but they are a little shorter and fatter and I feel like they might just give me what I'm looking for in the moguls and powder.

Tackling the moguls and the off piste terrain is the next challenge for myself as I want to take the next step from groomed blacks. Charging down the regular trails is one of my favorite parts about skiing, so I don't want to sacrifice that just to gain a slight edge in the harder stuff. Do you think it would be a mistake to switch to the scratch FS?

I think in general it would be a mistake to ski on a 12 year old ski that wasn't overly stiff to start with. I have a pair of 05 Solly Foils which are complete noodles (which is why they have been hanging on the wall in the garage for the last 4 years). I doubt the Scratches are any better.
