Volkl rtm 77 vs 81 - help wanted

Thread Starter
Just looking for some quick insight -
About me 41 yrs young
195 - 200 lbs
Skiing since 4 yrs old
Live in Ontario, Canada
Mostly frontside eastern canada skiing
Maybe 1-2 trips per season to western Canada or USA for big mountain skiing

Have done a lot of research on rtm series and redsign between 2015 and 2016. Have read that 77 can be very chatty and unstable at higher speeds for someone of my weight. Just wondering how bad this issue is? No opportunity for demos where i live. Debating between new pair of 2015 77s, which can be had on clearance for $250 vs $1000 for this year's rtm 81s. Is the extra investment warranted? Thanks for your feedback folks! smile.gif

I tried the 2016 RTM 81 170, which may be a little short for me but I loved it. I'm bigger than you. The conditions were groomed with a very light dusting of natural snow, and beginning to get a little icy as the temperature dropped. I haven't tried the 2015 77 so I can't compare. I do like the 2015 RTM 80, but I don't think I'd want to go any softer. The 2016 RTM 84 seems to be highly thought of, including midwestern skiers, but I have not tried it yet. I did not like 2015 RTM 84 on ice. It felt too wide and planky to me.
