Seven Springs skiing Icon Mogul Matt Gregory passed away

I learned this awful news this morning in the locker room out at Seven Springs. His death resulted from complications after heart valve surgery I was informed.

Mogul Matt was the little guy always skiing the iciest bump line , usually in a rugby shirt even on the coldest days. I first watched him ski 36 years ago when I moved back to Pittsburgh and started skiing at Seven Springs. It was remarkable to me how he could ski the nastiest , window pane troughed , bumps and control his speed and never get thrown out of his line. Matt was 72 and skied like he might be 22.

The skiing today was pretty lousy, but realizing that I would never see him ski again is very sobering and only reinforces what a gift life is and how quickly it can change

Sad.. Mogul Matt has been a fixture at the springs my whole life. As kids we referred to him as "Waldo" because of the striped shirts always playing the where's Waldo game from the Avalanche lift. RIP

Don't get to Seven Springs often, but I think I've seen this guy on the hill.  Sorry to hear this.

RIP Mogul Matt.  Never met him but, I hope this mountain can rename a run after him there.
