Far North, but well worth it

WOW, is an understatement after experiencing what Northern Escape Heli Skiing has to offer. We just returned from NEH located in Terrace, BC which is approximately an 1.5 hour flight or 16 hour drive north of Vancouver, BC. This should give you a better perspective just how far north this operation is.

Beautiful flight in from Vancouver, BC

Northern Escape's tenure is the Skeena Mountain range which is well known for getting big dumps of snow so their tag line of it's "Deeper up Here" is totally understandable.

Our crew consisted of Desiree Leipham, Mike Overby, John Witt and myself on this 3 day adventure. We arrived on January 3rd which was right in the middle of a high pressure system that had been setting over northern BC for about a week. That means a couple of things, not much on recent snowfall but Bluebird skies. I'll take the bluebird skies anytime especially in this type of terrain.

                                                                 Owen Day coming in HOT!

Our seasoned guide of 12 years Yvan Gaston Sabourin and Tail Guide Owen day showed us their playground. With clear skies and boot top powder we played in the high alpine. This tenure has a wide variety of different terrain from jaw dropping steeps to gentle sloping runs for intermediate riders.

                                                                       Deseri Leipham getting after it

Since we were filming we had a unique opportunity to fly up to a top peak before the sunrise. Watching the sun crest over the Skeena Mountains is better than than morning cup of coffee. It's a magical moment that I will not forget.

I'll take this as my wakeup call any day!

Throughout our trip we were treated some leg crushing vert through the big Alpine bowls, some drops in the 3000 foot range. Rolling through terrain like will definitely get the early season ski legs in shape, QUICK!

Big, wide open fields of Powder

NEH attracts a fair share of European clientele. During our trip we were graced with the presence of a young Austrian Couple on their belated Honeymoon ski trip and another Austrian on a Canadian ski holiday. The great thing about this sport, any language barrier seems to go away with the huge smiles doing the talking.

Northern Escape is well worth the flight from Vancouver. The terrain, staff, lodging accommodations and food are as good as it gets. This is one for your bucket list.

Here's a short video of the trip.

Another awesome TR of a place I'd love to visit!

Unfortunately,  I'm house rich and money poor right now.

So are there prices on their website, or is this like the jewelry stores where they put the pricetags face down?  I couldn't find any.  C'mon, give us window-shoppers a break.

Nice TR, Freeride! That sounded like it was a great trip. Werner's been talking about NEH for years but I'd not seen any of their tenure before. Looks sweet! Good to see Overby out having a great time while I keep his dad slaving away....

MDF- Below is a link for pricing which is on their website.for both Heli and Catskiing. They have packages from 3 day to 12 day. Personally, I think you'd have to be pretty agro for a 12 day trip!

The lodging is first rate, the food is 5 Star quality and the terrain is incredible. I've been to quite a few operations over the years and this is truly a TOP NOTCH operation.
