I'm renting a car for a ski trip and realized what if the car i rent isn't able to fit my skis inside?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Ski size is 180.

The vast majority of economy/compact cars have a fold down rear seat.

Try an agency like Thrifty or National, that let you pick the car out of an isle.

You'll be able to make it work with just about any car as long as you're the only driver.   At worse you lay flat the passenger seat and then go diagonal.  If you're the driver and you have a passenger, then you may need to swap cars if it doesn't work.   If your car isn't already preassigned and ready to drive and go, you can ask at the counter and it's usually not a problem price wise that they'll find something within the same class that'll work for you.  As with any rental, it maybe an issue if the counter has a long line of people and things are just slow.

As long as you are the only person, you won't have a problem.  For example, back in the old days (~2000-2001) I had no problem putting my 198cm K2 Merlins in my Porsche 911, which is almost certainly smaller than anything you'd rent.  As the previous poster suggested, just run them diagonally into the front passenger footwell.

I easily get my 174cm skis plus ski friends boards/skis in my Mazda 3 with one of the rear split seats dropped. I think almost all small cars you can rent do this (maybe not fiat 500)

The only time I had a problem, I was traveling with two other people and got assigned a Suburban that had no fold down seat. Between the luggage and the skis, it was a problem. We'd have been better off with a sedan.

Those things are land yachts.  You must pack for trips like my wife.  JK.

Three people, five pair of skis. (They did cross country and alpine.)

I've always driven a smaller car (Escort, Focus, Impreza) and have never had a problem getting skis in them.  However, our old POS Land Rover Discovery was too small inside to fit them.

I rent a car for our ski trips each year. I rent from an airport to get the unlimited miles. I found a device called the Handirack online as use that as a ski rack. It works pretty well in my opinion.

If there two people up front I put the tails of the skis where your feet would go in one of the back seats, and lay them diagonally to the headrest of the other back seat.  Ive fit my 193 dobermanns this way
