Tecnica Mach1 - 2016 vs. 2015 flex (110 vs. 100)

Thread Starter

I have been looking at the Tecnica Mach1 boots.

Given my foot width the Low Volume (LV) series seems to fit best.

My preference would be a 110 flex boot.

In the 2016 line (for the US), the available flexes are:

    * 130 (HV and LV)

    * 120 (HV and LV)

    * 100 (HV and LV)

    *  90 (HV only)

However, if you look at the Tecnica site for Canada, or any of the other international countries, the 2016 line consists of

    * 130 (HV and LV)

    * 120 (HV and LV)

    * 110 (HV and LV) - this model uses the same boot mold and is in the same colors as the 100 flex US model

    * 100 (HV only) - this boot uses a different mold than the 100 flex US model - you can tell by the toe shape

    *  90 (HV only)

The 110 flex HV and LV models for Canada and international sites looks visually identical to the 100 flex HV and LV models for sale in the US - same color, same boot mold, etc.

Question:

Does anyone know if the 2016 Mach1 "100" flex models (HV and LV) sold in the US are actually the same exact boot as the 110 flex models (HV and LV) sold in all other countries? I.e, same plastic, same construction, same actual flex, etc. I am wondering if it is the same exact boot but just marketed in the US as a 100 flex for some reason. Anyone familiar with tecnica know the answer to this?

I have tried the 2015 Mach1 in 110 flex and it felt good - but too wide as 2015 was only in a 100 mm last.

In the 2016 line, I am stuck deciding between the 120 LV and the 100 LV.

If I knew the 2016 100 LV was actually more like a "110" flex (comparable to the 2015 110), I would be more comfortable going that route. Otherwise, I may lean toward the 2016 120 LV and have the flex softened if needed.

I know flex ratings are all relative within a line. Just looking for as much info as I can find.

Looking further at their site - another possibility is that the 100 flex US model and 110 flex international model share the same shell, but the 110 flex international model comes with an upgraded liner (CAS Ultrafit in the 100 flex US model vs. CAS Ultrafit Pro Race in the 110 flex international model).

So possibly same physical shell - just upgraded liner in the 110 flex international model.

Bump?

Rather than trying to figure this out by asking random strangers on the interwebz why not go to a shop and try them on?  It is easy enough to make the 120 flex softer, not so much trying to make a 100 sitffer..
