Same or different radius on inside and outside edge of slalom ski?

Hi all,

Not sure if this is gear, tuning, or the user...

In trying to wear my skis evenly I often flip my slaloms onto the opposite feet for the afternoon (left ski on right foot etc). However, they feel strange and don't ski as well, so I end up flipping them back. Is there actually a difference or is it all in my head? I'm on the 2011 Dynastar Omeglass Speed WC SL.

I think you'll have to be more specific. Certainly, there could be a burr on an edge that has now switched from outside to inside edge. One edge could definitely be more worn than the other, given you switch back. I don't consciously have a left and right ski, but occasionally I'll switch them if I'm not happy with their bite into ice, hoping that will improve things. Then I'll take them home at the end of the day to work on them, trying to identify the problem edge.

Pretty sure the radius is the same. I have the 2013 Rossi radical FIS SL ski from the national team race room (effectively the same ski) and they ski fine on either edges.

I do notice the slant nose looks a bit off when the skis are flipped around (possible that might effect swing weight if you believe the marketing) but I haven't noticed any difference.

Similar experience with Atomic and Fischer.

I just did the most obvious check (duh) and put them on top of each other - they appear to have the same radius up to the slantnose. So maybe it's all in my head, Maybe seeing the tips pointing the "wrong way" in my periphery bothers my subconscious. Maybe I'm afraid they'll hook on something (though they only see groomers when flipped the wrong way). Well, time to get over it.

The biggest problem should be all the people on the chair telling you your skis are on backwards. (I used to have a pair like that.)
