Ski Recommendation? [for traveling to Jackson Hole/Utah/Telluride]

Thread Starter

I would like some advice on ski selection.  I am 50 yrs old, 5'9" and 180 lbs. I consider myself a low level expert...comfortable skiing most blacks at Jackson and Telluride--but not doing double-blacks, like moguls (but want to get better skiing them) and enjoy skiing a bit of off piste with somebody who knows the terrain.  I love the Coomback for Jackson Hole but have found that it is not as comfortable for me when I ski Telluride or Alta/Park City/Deer Valley.  Our normal circuit is Jackson Hole/Utah/Telluride.  I'm sick of renting skis for all of the trips so I want to get a good base ski that I'll be able to use in most conditions (I'll still pick up a rental when conditions require it..more so on a snow day or when I'm going to spend most of the day off-piste).

I tried the Head Venturi 95, 171 cm (I think) in slightly messy loose snow (5-7 inches the day before, not alot of grooming overnight due to high winds; in Sun Valley ID).  I could feel that they would have been quite good in a little harder, fast conditions but were not showing as much versatility as I would like.  Rossignol Sin 7 last year felt good in on a snow day but definitely not as nimble as I'd like day-in, day-out.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Welcome to EpicSki. There are several skis that are worth considering, and demoing if you can.
Nordica Enforcer, 100mm
Fischer Motive 95Ti
Atomic Vantage 100CTI
Dynastar Cham 97
Head Monster 98

My recommendation is that any of these skis should be 175-180cm. My new daily driver is 177. I've demoed the Enforcer in 169 and 177 and the 177 is perfect for me. I'm 5'7" 150 pounds. I don't want to label myself an expert, but I ski all over the mountain and prefer trees, bumps and powder.

I would add Volkl Mantra (177) and Blizzard Bonafide (180)
