Conditions for Southern Vermont in Feb?

So with all the unseasonably warm weather, what are snow conditions going to be like in southern VT? Have a family trip planned for President's Day week at Stratton. Can still cancel lift + lodging 30 days out. Wondering if it's possible to have good snow given the poor start to the season. Would hate to pay all the $$$ for mediocre conditions. Recommendations?

It's a weird year. Stratton currently has only 11 trails open — and I was told they were closed before Xmas week. By February, a person hopes, things will be better.

Of course it's nearly impossible to predict that far out, even for an exacting meteorologist. OpenSnow's seasonal prediction gives us a 60-70% chance of greater-than-average snow this year.  A chance.  It would be surprising, though, if we didn't have much better coverage by February. Mediocre? Hard to say, right?

bromley was the one that wasn't open until 12/16. Stratton was open and listed 9 open trails which translated to 3 trails off the top. Now they have 12 trails open = 4 from the top.

It's been a pretty tough season in the NE. Things are looking up, at least the cold temps is finally here. The resorts can blow snow.

It won't be a stellar season like last season but it'll probably be acceptable by President week.

If cold temps hold, we'll be fine.

I've been to VT at least once every season for the past few years. Like anywhere, conditions vary from year to year depending on the weather. Some years, we've only skied groomed runs. Other years (like last year), conditions were absolutely epic and we skied almost exclusively off-piste. Haven't seen conditions so bad that I wished I cancelled.

The way I see it, any day skiing is better than a day at the office. Don't cancel the trip - enjoy the moment and get outside!

Too far away to know anything for sure.  However it is safe to predict that most of the mountain will be open by then.  Even in a stellar snow year you can have a warmup/rain event that will destroy conditions for some time.  Or you can have a surprise storm that dumps lots of fresh snow.  Here in the east I find it's better to just go and take your chances.  You can't rely on even short-term forecasts.

If the conditions turn out to be marginal, which trails are most likely to be open? Most of the group are green/blue skiers so I'm mostly wondering if the Sun Bowl and Meadows and American Express and Tamarack trails will be open. Right now most of these are closed.

Conditions should be fine. It is getting much colder now and they are blowing snow non stop. They have also been getting snow.
Have a great time.

It's been a lot of gloom and doom up here this season (for good reason). However,if you recall, last season started strong with a big snow in early December, but then nearly the entire base was wiped out by warm and rain right before Christmas and we had to hit the reset button for January. My point being, December doesn't make or break the east coast ski season.......if we're having this same conversation in 3 weeks, then I'll get nervous.

If you need to make a decision soon, maybe for a means of insurance you move your plans to a more northerly mountain that would be more prone to cold and snow. Just an idea.

Good luck
