Val Thorens restricting pass sales due to fears of overcrowding.

Anybody thinking of driving in to Val Thorens for a days skiing because they have no snow in there own resort should call ahead to find out the pass situation. I have heard that no outside pass sales will be made 27 December to 1st January 2016 and even some local passes will be blocked eg saisonaires.

The blocked days will be extended if overcrowding looks likely.

I just spoke to a buddy who is skiing in Val Tho. He told me that there is no snow below 1,900m and that it is super crowded.

I´m heading to Les Menuires on the 7th of Feb. for one week. I hope by then it will have gotten enough snow to open the entire valley.  Never been to the three valleys so looking forward, especially Val Thorens.

You will be fine. They have just had a dump and there is some more to come. The snowline is down to 1000m and all the links to the other valleys are open.

If you do the run under the Cime de Carron cable car enjoy it for me. My favorite run in the 3V. I have great memories of hooning down GS style on a day when the pistes were empty.

I've booked to go skiing at Val Thorens with Erna Low in Feb, do you know if they've had any more snow? Has anyone got any tips, this is my first time skiing! :)

They've been hammered with snow for the last ten days. The skiing has been fabulous. Mind you, snow quality won't be an issue for you if this is your first trip: you'll likely spend most of it on terrain that they groom impeccably every night.
