Slopeside around SLC Christmas week

Hello,

Last minute trip to Utah. I am traveling with my 6 yr old daughter (her 3rd season) on Wed. We are staying at Alta for a few days, and my wife and her sister are joining us a few days after that. No availability in Alta and what I managed to find is way too expensive.

The group has people with very different levels (one advanced, one intermediate, one beginner and a kid skiing blues), so we wanted ski-in, ski-out so that everybody can be independent. I was considering Solitude or Brighton. Other recommendations? Which one would be relatively less crowded (understand it is Christmas season, just want to avoid super crowded skiing.)?

Thank you very much in advance.

There is essentially no lodging at Brighton, so Solitude is the only option in BCC.  If you can find lodging, Solitude is a good place for a family.  Assuming the new Summit quad is working, that will make it more fun for the advanced skier.  Ski school gets good reviews.

Here are a few relevant threads you can check out.  If you want to look at others, use the links under Topics Discussed (right hand column).

Thanks. Researched a few places with no luck, but then lucked out with a Brighton ski house (not on the hill, but very close) that had a last minute cancellation. Will ski Solitude for a day or more, depends on how it goes.

Lucky you!  BCC is not that big, so any house up near Brighton is less than 5 min from skiing.

Have heard the new Summit lift will be running later this week.
