Advice on Kastle TX97's

Thread Starter

I'm considering buying a pair of Kastle TX 97's for back country touring and need some input on length.

I'm 6'0", 165 lbs and ski Kastle MX83's in 173 in bumps and groomers and Rossignole 7's in 188 for powder. I love both these skis.

I'm an expert skier but new to back country. The TX97's will be fitted with Dynafit radical bindings and because the Rossy's I own are rockered and the TX97's are rockered as well, I'm guessing the TX97's in 187 would be comparable but  can't find any reviews that discuss length.

Does anyone have an opinion on which length I should buy?

I should mention that although I've looked at many different back country skis, I'm getting a price on the Kastle's that I can't turn down.

They are a totally different sort of 'Rocker' from the Rossi, I would buy the next length down (177) to save weight and get performance that more closely aligns with your MX83.

Thanks, Whiteroom.

I was looking for performance more similar to the Rossy's in deep or untracked snow than the MX83's but I see what you're saying about the rocker being different and the value of the weight savings.

Your input is much appreciated.

Agree with Whiteroom
177 cm is the right choice.
I own the MX 83 in 183cm and TX 97 in 187cm at 6'1" and 190 and there almost too long. Its beefy underfoot and a stiff tail. I re mounted mine 2cm fwd of the suggested mount point as its really far back and found it made the me feel like I was always fighting to stay out of the back seat, you may want to do the same. Cant imagine a skier under 180lbs who wasn't really aggressive on the 187.
Think you'll really like them its remarkable stable for a backcountry ski with good power and its good in pow to.
