Demo bindings fitted on rails - are they all the same?

Hi ladies and gents,

Please excuse my ignorance if my question is silly but there we go:

I bought a pair of K2 AMP Velocity without bindings quite cheaply and a pair of Marker m3 10.0 which was supposed to be the right binding for them. Unfortunately only the rear bit is (or rather seems to be) fitting. The front jaw wouldn't fit though - it looks similar, has the same furrows but won't go in. After some research I discovered that the plate looks different from what AMP looks like and I guess I will either 1. have to find the right plate (nearly impossible I guess), 2. buy new bindings and fit them on the flat or 3. buy a set or demo bindings and fit them on this plate.

Which option would you suggest I go for?

Would it be possible to mount only a new front jaw on the flat and go with the Marker m3 10.0 fitted on the rear plate or this is a no-no?

And lastly, and most importantly, are all demo bindings being fitted on a sort of standard plate?

I like skiing fast and would like to be as safe as possible without obviously spending a fortune.

Thanks. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Why is option 4. source the correct binding for this ski not a choice? 'Cause that would be my #1 suggestion (well, it would be suggestion #2 right after have someone who knows what's what take a look and see if the binding you have really is wrong for the ski).

There is nothing 'standardized' about mounting hardware for demo bindings, putting a demo binding on your ski would be exactly like putting a consumer binding on your ski- it needs to be built for the plate on the ski.

Your simplest course of action might be to remove the plate, make sure there is something in the ski core to retain binding screws and, if there is, mount a 'flat' binding to the ski.

Hi. Thanks for the advice.

Well, I do have the "correct" bindings, regrettably they won't fit onto the plate I've got. I couldn't have known that the plate has been replaced. I will still bring them to a ski shop alongside a pair of bindings mountable on the flat.

However my questions are still valid, I believe: demo, separate toe pieces only or entirely new flat mounted bindings.
