So I'm working a season this year and need some boots. I purchased some new boots last season in just a ski shop in Vancouver but fedex lost them when I shipped them home.
The pair I got was Salomon X Pro 80 and was fitted in 24.5 size. Now the boot was great except my toes killed. It was painful to stand upright waiting in the chairlift line. I took the boots back and asked if they could punch the toe. The store said they didn't do that which I found bizarre. Anyway, so another guy refitted me, apologised and said I had been fitted too small so they gave me the next size up (25.5). Now there was definitely more room in this boot but also more room in the ankle. I have a pretty narrow foot and skinny ankle/calf. I had to get some padding for my shin to stop the shin bang and a custom footbed too.
So now I'm working a season and have the opportunity to purchase the same boot for a ridiculously low price via a pro deal. However, I can guarantee I will require some alterations to the boot. Am I better off going to a boot fitter and just get everything there including the boot to ensure a proper fit? Or is it standard to get a boot altered if purchased elsewhere? I will get a staff discount in the store but it will not be as cheap as the pro deal.
I'm a newby to this so any advice would be great.
