Minutia

I just picked-up my 32 Degrees mag. There is an article that mentions minutia and a few other things that sound eerily familiar....hmm.

What do you think minutia is or is not?

To me, minutia is stuff we definitely don't talk about on snow, generally don't talk about indoors, and keep to a minimum if/when we do discuss. Minutia is stuff you use rarely, but is very valuable when you use it.

I plan to wait till April to read the article. 32 degrees rarely has bible worthy content, but if you understand and respect how the content gets generated and vetted you'll have extra ability to get value from the content.

Minutia, friend or foe? Please ...let me tell you about minutiae. There are three, no … four, or maybe even more types of minutia.

1. There is the type that are the finer details that rise through and out of the top of a progressing body of inquiry and are detailed understandings that rely directly on that body of inquiry as its foundation.

2. Then there is the second type of detail commonly referred to as “fraudulent minutia”. These are details that are culled from the middle and bottom layers of a body of inquiry and used for reasons other than for the purpose of the original inquiry that readily become effective in re-routing the original inquiry away from its natural and balanced completion.

3. Then there is actually a rarely known third type of minutia which is the remaining residue of filth nesting deep in the corner of the foundation of any frequently used toilet that is rarely ever completely removed. The reason this third type is so rarely known is that it is often confused with type 2.

4. Even more rarely considered is the minutia of minutiae which are the molecular details of the filth on your toilet that, which broken down to atomic particles (yes, a secret fifth type -  minutia of minutia of minutia) on which, with powerful microscopes, can be seen tiny little ski areas populated by super mini skiers that actually ski up the hill and ride the chair down and, get this … still using straight skis! Nanotechnology is apparently not the advance we all think it isl.

Now, I just have to figure out how to retrace my steps to get back to where I was before I started answering this ridiculous post. I keep getting stuck on the super tiny little chairlifts because of being used to getting off at the top. If you have read this far, you are likely as super tiny and mentally retarded as the author of this reply. The good news is that I’ll be happy to show you around before I have to leave. It is just temporary for me until the drugs wear off. You, on the other hand, got here sober and will have to find your own way back. You probably should have turned back at the first mention of the word “fraudulent”. Good luck!

Details that most feel are unnecessary, or trivial. E=MC2 is elegant in it's simplicity and frighteningly complex at the same time.
